Feriha Başalan was born on March 15, 1966 in Istanbul, Turkey where she also grew up. She received her law degree from Istanbul University in 1989 and then served as trainee lawyer.
Following training she was registered with the Istanbul bar on October 4, 1990 under registration No. 16861 and worked as a freelance attorney specializing in the fields of unfair competition, trademarks and patent law. Simultaneously she also studied Contemporary Business Management at Marmara University, Faculty of Business Administration.
As the intellectual and industrial property rights showed progress in Turkey, in the name of efforts to reach European norms, she focused on foreign investment, incorporation law and intellectual and industrial property rights protection, and took an examination on June 27, 1995, held according to the latest implementation of the Turkish Patent Institute. She has been rendered consultancy services related with various company and liaison offices establishment proceedings with foreign capital.
Following examination, she obtained the position of official patent & trademark Attorney. Currently she is working in the fields of intellectual and industrial property rights protection, foreign investment and incorporation law and holds the position of European Patent Attorney before the European Patent Office.

Ahmet Başalan was born on September 12, 1952 in Istanbul, Turkey. He received his law degree from Istanbul University in 1980 and then served as trainee lawyer.
Following training he was registered with the Istanbul bar on October 16, 1981 under registration No. 12167 and worked as a freelance attorney. Simultaneously he also studied towards his MA degree at Istanbul University, Faculty of Business Administration, Institute of Business Economics and 2 years later received his MA degree on April 26, 1982.
Following graduation, he went to Britain to improve his professional knowledge and experience by attending various training programs in the City of London Polytechnic. Upon his return to Turkey in 1984, he continued to concentrate his studies on intellectual and industrial property, foreign investments and incorporation law.
